Urban Mix Plate
Melissa Chang lives in the Ala Moana/Kaka'ako area and, like her neighbors, loves the convenience that this area provides. Despite its high concentration of condos, Ala Moana/Kaka'ako has its own neighborhood charm and its proximity to the ocean has the ability to take the urban edge off. Melissa also works at Aloha Tower Marketplace, a significant landmark in the area.

Road test follow up: Kiss Me Mascara

In preparation for the Honolulu Marathon next week, I ran yesterday wearing my Kiss Me cosmetics in the rain. The running conditions were similar to the half marathon on November 4—rainy, with slightly less flooding and a lot more wind.

I wore my makeup with confidence as I sloshed through the Wailupe area. However, the wind started to blow…not a gentle breeze, but a full-on wind! As I was running through Kahala, the wind picked up and started to pelt me with raindrops like little bullets, nonstop. By the time I got to Triangle Park, quite a bit of my mascara had been sandblasted off my eyes and had fallen in chunks onto my cheeks (the mascara does not flake). My running friend JR said, solemnly, “You better warn your readers.”

flaky eyes
So there you have it. For those of you who plan to go running in a downpour, with a high wind sandblasting your face for 20 minutes or more, do not expect the Kiss Me mascara to stay on!

Two Minis in a pod
On a happier note, I came back to the half-empty parking lot to find that another MINI Cooper had chosen to park next to mine....kind of like two rabbits trying to keep each other warm.

Could you sign up for the Ironman Triathlon and wear your Kiss Me cosmetics through the ocean swim? I'm a lap swimmer and am seriously interested in Kiss Me's performance in distance conditions. Awaiting your report. Thank you!

Ha! Tell you what, why don't we sign up for an Ironman as a relay team? We just need to find a biker! Then all 3 of us can test it. In fact, I hear there is an Ironman in Sonoma in August. Can you see the possiblities???

I bet your mascara runs faster than I do.

Keep your feet dry on Sunday. I will be on my way to Japan while you break your record.
